Sometimes there are so many charities; you don't know which one to support, so here are our top tips for upcoming charity events that we will be supporting.
The first in the diary is the SAT’s animal charity show at The Club in Quesada on the 10th of March in conjunction with Vibe FM. Vibe DJ's Ritchie Sparks, Brendan James and of course myself will be there on the night, singing our little hearts out.
Also helping in the aid of all the poor animals over at SATS are some of the best acts on the Costa Blanca.
Around 12 performers will all be giving their time for free on the night, making it a rare occasion to see the best in local talent performing together for just one night. S.A.T was founded in 1992 by a group of people of all nationalities who saw the need for a sanctuary for the abandoned dogs that roamed the streets of Torrevieja. Today, with its kennels at Dolores which can home up to 70 dogs, their aim is to prevent unnecessary suffering and re-home the many abandoned dogs within the Costa Blanca area. No longer do they only cover Torrevieja, they have cries for help from as far as Murcia and as far inland as Pinoso and Sax. SAT is a nonprofit making organization that raise funds from events, charity sales, fairs and of course donations.
Just a week later, Championes bar in Benijofar are hosting a night in aid of Denia Preventorio Gandia Charity on the 18th of March. The entertainment for the evening will be Tony Lincoln, Johnny Fox, Crazy G and Elite Entertainment will be there to support the evening.
The Preventorio is a children’s home in Gandia that has no public funding, these children are unable to live at home and are aged from 2-12 years. During the winter they have only blankets to keep themselves warm, so any donations to this notable charity would be much appreciated.
Then a little further down the line, once again Elite Entertainment and the Afghan Heroes join forces for the Easter party at Leodis Restaurant in Campoverde. Charles Cole, Suzanne James and Terry Jay will be the entertainment for the evening, as well as a special dance performance from Jay Marwick and Ella Rainford, both are accomplished students of Raquel Peña. Tickets are just €2 and can be purchased from calling Jackie at the Afghan Heroes on 966796863; there will also be a special menu available on the evening.
The Afghan heroes was started by the mother of a soldier who died in an explosion in Afghanistan in July had the idea to set up a charity to provide support for those directly involved in the conflict. Afghan Heroes has been launched by a group of mothers with the aim of helping our service personnel directly on the front line; the families of those who have fallen and our returning service personnel who have witnessed these horrific losses of their fellow comrades.
Afghan Heroes is independent of other charities. It deals specifically with members of the British forces and their families that have been affected by the military operations in Afghanistan now and into the future. The intention is to operate until a minimum of five-years from the cessation of our military presence in Afghanistan.
